Banyuwangi is the home of unique Osing people. Currently Osing people lives in nine (out of 24) districts in Banyuwangi. However, there are only 14 villages that still practice the original Osing tradition, Kemiren included. Kemiren itself became a tourism village with a view to preserve their tradition with eco-tourism approach. It means that Kemiren wants to conserve their natural surrounding with the wisdom of Osing while still attracting tourists.
